Gartner has just released their 2014 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms.  I’m very pleased to announce that, for the third year in a row, Gartner has included Kaspersky Lab in the leaders quadrant.  More importantly, our position has continued to move up and to the right and we are now second in terms of “Completeness of Vision”.

Listen to the podcast with Brian Burke talking about the Magic Quadrant and the evolution of Kaspersky Lab’s corporate products:

We are happy to see our flagship product, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, scored so highly based on the rigorous completeness of vision criteria such as market understanding, product strategy, anti-malware detection and prevention capabilities, innovation, and geographic strategy. We firmly believe this ranking reflects the continued growth of Kaspersky over the last year and the increasing adoption of our product in the enterprise environment.

Why Magic Quadrant matters

In case you’re not familiar with Gartner’s Magic Quadrant, it is widely recognized as the most influential benchmark for companies seeking to evaluate IT security vendors and products.  Enterprises all over the world pay close attention to its findings when making purchase decisions.  In fact, our latest research at Kaspersky Lab shows that analyst firms, such as Gartner, rank as the top source of information for enterprise’s making a final decision to purchase IT security products.

The graphic above was published by Gartner as part of a larger research document.  We urge you to read the full report to understand the context of the entire document. The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms is available here.

Gartner evaluates Endpoint Security vendors using two major categories: “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute”. Each of these two categories includes various criteria. The most important ones for “vision” are ability to understand the market, an efficient marketing and sales strategy and viable business model. But pure visionaries, not capable to transform their expertise into a successful product are given a “niche player” rank.

To become a leader, a company has to be in perfect financial shape, deliver a successful product and be able to quickly respond to the market changes. Customer experience, also measured by Gartner, falls in this category as well. Careful analysis of multiple criteria results in a chart that is quite easy to understand.

The Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Security Platforms is updated on a yearly basis. For a number of iterations Kaspersky Lab has shown a steady growth both in terms of vision and execution. This means that we are not only offering one of the best products on the market. It is the perception of Kaspersky Lab and our approach to corporate security that improves as well.
